Senior Research Officer position at reNEW Melbourne Node 

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW) at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute is looking for a Senior Research Officer to join the Disease Modelling Facility.

Job description
This role will contribute to the activities related to Disease Modelling and Drug screening. The team uses human stem cell derived cells and tissues for drug screening. The Senior Research Officer will operationalise existing and new workflows for automated liquid handling robots and confocal imaging, including working across teams to coordinate software, data analysis, and automation requirements.

The role will see you with primary responsibility of:

  • Overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day lab operations of multiple screening systems and a growing team of technicians and researchers
  • Contributing to pre-clinical cell-based Drug Discovery research projects
  • Assisting in the development and validation of assays for cell-based phenotypic screening and their transfer to robotic systems for high throughput screening
  • Developing and effectively applying a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills
