Job description
An opportunity exists for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Immune Development laboratory at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, using human pluripotent stem cell (PSC)-derived lung epithelial cells to study respiratory viral infections. The successful applicant will undertake experiments to understand and control infection of human lung epithelium by a range of human pathogens.

The work will involve the generation of airway and/or alveolar epithelial cells from PSCs and utilise a range of in vitro assays to profile respiratory infections. This work will employ genome wide CRISPR screens to understand host genes involved in infection. This work forms part of a greater research endeavour across three laboratories investigating the use of PSC-derived immune cells for research and medical applications. These groups are part of reNEW: The Novo Nordisk Center for Stem Cell Medicine. Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mentoring and training of junior research team members, and to develop independent lines of inquiry.

Application close: 16 February 2023
