Ear

The ear is an organ that enables hearing and helps in maintaining balance.

reNEW researchers are using pluripotent stem cell derived models of the developing hair cells to model deafness. The stem cell-derived ear-on-chip models test the efficacy of gene therapy on patients suffering from inherited deafness. Their aim is to develop new treatments and gene therapies to address the more than 100 different genetic mutations causing hearing loss.
