Liver-related deaths are rising globally, creating an urgent need for safer drugs and regenerative therapies. We address this by engineering lab-grown miniature livers. Much like the Cheshire Cat’s eyes peering from the dark in Wonderland, these so called organoids reveal unexpected insights. By optimizing them for predictive toxicology and regenerative medicine, we aim to prevent clinical drug failures and deliver life-saving therapies.
reNEW research
Unforeseen liver toxicity is a primary and costly reason drugs fail in clinical trials. To overcome this, our lab generates 3D liver organoids from embryonic stem cells. By promoting functional maturation, we engineer these mini-organs to accurately mimic human liver responses. This advanced platform enables us to predict toxicity early in drug development, saving resources and ensuring safer medicines reach patients faster.
