Our iPSC lines successfully achieved multilineage bone marrow engraftment in >60% of recipient mice, generating erythroid, myeloid, and lymphoid cells. These in vitro-generated multipotent cells, termed ‘iHSCs’, demonstrated engraftment levels comparable to those achieved following umbilical cord blood transplantation. This study marks a significant step towards the clinical translation of haematopoietic cells.
Impact
This work is dedicated to advancing the generation of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), a development with significant implications for medicine and biotechnology. Overcoming the challenges of creating iPSC-derived cells capable of long-term, multilineage engraftment in pre-clinical models has been a major focus of our work.
reNEW research
With four years of concentrated research in this field, I have specialised in evaluating the engraftment potential of iPSC-derived blood stem cells using immunocomprised mouse model. I have been concentrating in all aspects of the mouse model work, from developing and refining the experimental design to conducting the transplantations and subsequent analysis.
